Canyon FIX 3-in-1-Minitool Review

Compact and seamlessly integrated, the Canyon FIX 3 in 1 Minitool provides a quick and easy solution to performing tubeless repairs, fixing flat tyres, and other mid-ride maintenance, all wrapped up in a neat neoprene suit like your very own miniature special forces mechanic.

We all understand the importance of carrying a multi-tool for that trailside repair to get you home, but for some reason, we don’t always follow our own advice. You tell yourself “It’s OK, someone else will have a multi-tool, let’s ride!”

It’s at times like these that you really wish you listened to that inner voice and brought one along because as it turns out, everybody else on the ride was thinking the same thing. The only tools on those days are the ones riding the bikes.

Lucky for you, the Canyon FIX 3 in1 Minitool weighs in at a puny 42 grams and measures just 96mm x 16mm. This is a tool that no excuse for being too bulky or heavy could stand up against.

Canyon FIX 3 in 1 Minitool – Features

The Canyon FIX 3 in 1 Minitool is an intriguing little package. Wrapped in a small neoprene jacket that looks like a mini tool roll bag, with all the individual tool pieces laid out and tucked into mini pockets, we can’t blame you for getting a little gushy. When we first opened it there was an audible “Aww look at it! It’s so cute.”

Looks aside, with its black zinc-coated upper half and an anodized lower, the Canyon FIX has pretty much everything you’d need for a trailside repair. The upper section of the tool features a 90-click ratchet head that takes four steel bit attachments, including both Allen and Torx heads. There is a toggle to change the direction of the ratchet.

The lower half features an integrated Dynaplug® tubeless repair tool. We know that these are bloody handy tools in their own right. The lower half acts as a CO₂ inflator with the valve and CO₂ canister attachments at either end.

The bits are all double-ended with the Allen bits ranging from 2 to 6 mm (incl. 2.5 mm). There is also a Torx T6 and T25. All of this weighs in at only 42g at 96x16mm in size and comes in a very neat neoprene tool bag wrap. Everything is neatly tucked away.

On The Trails

The Canyon FIX Minitool is small and light enough to be comfortably stored in the smallest of pockets in a pack, strapped to the bike, or popped into your shorts/pants pocket. If like us, you have separate Allen wrenches, Torx bits, and CO₂ inflators rattling around in your pack, you will love the FIX for its pure simplicity. It certainly appeals to the OCD in all of us.

Setting up the tool and attaching the correct bits is easy and hassle-free. Unlike some multi-tools after being exposed to the elements, can tend to seize up, and prizing the tools apart can end up in frustration. On top of that is the amount of twisting and turning and re-adjusting until the part is finally tight.

The FIX feels more like a tool you would use in your home garage with its individual connecting parts and the ratchet head, reducing fumbling finger frustration to the minimum.

Conclusions

The Canyon FIX 3-in-1 Minitool is a cleverly crafted piece of engineering that offers most of the important bits and pieces you’d need to solve a range of trailside issues. Admittedly it doesn’t have it all, but for its size and weight, it does offer a lot. The Canyon FIX is ideal for those looking to reduce pack weight, reduce pocket bulge, or just reduce the number of individual tools on a ride.

Made from quality materials and a lack of moving parts makes this a dependable tool to carry at all times, and being so small and light, it’s hardly noticeable. Luckily, the Canyon FIX 3-in-1 Minitool is not exclusive to Canyon owners, so if this looks like a tool you’d be interested in, just pop on over to the Canyon website.
