Cut to the Chase
There is a concern that eco-friendly products are not as effective as non-eco products. We have to call bullshit on this. The WPL range of lubricants is as good, if not better, than any non-eco friendly product on the market. best of all it doesn't harm the environment or you!
Pros
Eco and rider friendly products
Professional quality and performance
Great value for money
A brand doing something good for the planet
Cons
None that we can think of.

If you had a choice of using a range of bike lubes and cleaners that didn’t harm the environment or the rider, would you buy it?

Well, if you said YES to the above then you’re in luck becasue Canadian brand WPL only use bio-based and eco-friendly ingredients in their formulas. This means no Petro-based additives, synthetic oils, or toxic organic solvents. So, you may ask “do I really care?” Well, you bloody well should!

There is a concern that eco-friendly can sometimes mean a less powerful product. We have to call bullshit on this. The WPL range of lubricants is as good, if not better, than any non-eco friendly product on the market. Being envirionemntally fiendly has to make it a better choice, surley?

Who are WPL?

While living in Whistler, BC, the chemist-father and downhill-racer-son duo recognized a need in the market for maintenance products that could benefit both the rider and the environment.

WPL promoted their first products locally in Whistler and at provincial-level downhill and enduro races, collecting data and analysis from professional riders and mechanics in the scene. Feedback was taken back to the lab to tailor formulas to the needs of the racers. Click HERE to find out more about the full range of WPL products.

Bio-Solvent Degreaser

The WPL Bio-Solvent Degreaser is a powerful biodegradable solvent degreaser for eliminating excess grease build-up and other contaminants from your drivetrain parts. It’s a non-toxic, petroleum-free, bio-based formula that easily dissolves contaminants, leaving the drivetrain clean and efficient. It can be sprayed directly onto bicycle parts or used for isolated cleaning in chain cleaning tools or degreaser bins.

ForkBoost Lubricant

The ForkBoost Bike Suspension Lubricant is an instant bicycle suspension performance booster. WPL ForkBoost both lubricates and cleans fork/shock suspension seals to eliminate stiction, remove dirt, and lengthen the lifetime of the seal.

Simnply dribble some of this almost good enough to eat liquid onto the fork stanchion and dust seals. Pump the fork up and down a few times and watch as the ForkBoost does its magic. You’ll see a line of scum appearing as the lube pulls the dirt and grime away from the seals. Simply grab a cloth or tissue and wipe this off. Repeat if necessary.

ForkBoost is fully compatible with rubber and rubber derivatives, causing no risk of damage to the seals, seal swelling or cracking. Use ForkBoost internally during fork rebuilds, to soak foam seals and cut grease to specified thickness.

The zero toxicity formula is compatible with rubber and elastomers providing a working temperature range of -40ºC to 120ºC. The viscosity is incredibly smooth and silky making it a fantastic choice for building bicycles with efficient movement constancy and elevated corrosion resistance. And again, with all of WPL’s range of lubes, it’s not going to harm the environment or you!

Conclusions

Where do we spend most of our time when we ride? The forests and the mountains. Well, why not make a little effort to look after those things by choosing a bike product that’s eco-friendly. That’s the least we can do, surely? Yes, we agree it’s not always convenient to scour the internet for eco-friendly products but now WPL has made it super-easy for us all to become a little more eco-friendly. The WPL range performs as good, if not better than any other product we have used in the market and this is now being backed up by proefessional mechanics all over the world.

We are all in uncertain times with regard to COVID-19 and strong measures are being taken on all fronts to ‘flatten the curve’ and minimise the impacts on our society and economy.
We all need to exercise some social responsibility and adhere to the advice being offered from medical professionals and those who are calling the shots - social distancing, self isolation, hygiene etc.
BUT - if your circumstance allows it, it is as good a time as ever to head out on the trails to get some fresh air and exercise.
Many of the small businesses which service us as riders are heading into tough times also. A lot of interstate travellers have cancelled trips to Tassie and your local bike shop, cafe, or pub needs your patronage more than ever!
One last thing - now is a time we should be conscious of riding well within our abilities so as to not risk placing unnecessary pressure on the health system at this uncertain juncture.

Happy trails!
