Features
The Ontap Portable Shower is essentially an amped-up water can with superpowers. On first appearance, it resembles that of any normal 12l water can but the Ontap has a few extra gadgets attached that make it a very handy piece of equipment to have in your vehicle.
The Ontap Portable Shower features an internal pump powered via a detachable 12v cord that pumps out a decent water spray of 12l/min flow rate for up to 5 min of shower time. Plenty of time to sing your favourite song.
It also features a hose gun with 7 adjustable spray options so you can pour water into kettles or pots, rinse dishes, and equipment, or shower yourself off. The Ontap product is designed to be as water conscious as possible by delivering just enough water pressure to ensure you don’t run out of water too fast. It’s also energy-conscious with a max power draw of 4.5 A.
There are two versions on offer, the Original (green) and the Black Edition. Both share the same features but the black edition, when left in direct sun for a few hours will heat up to around 40 to 45 degrees Celsius, allowing you to have a warm shower. Perfect for post-ride, run, hike, or swim activities.

Out On The Road
Having a solution for water storage when on the road is a crucial part of van life. We’ve been to many events where we only wished we could have had a quick shower to cool off and get refreshed but finding something that can store enough water and pressure, and is kind to your wallet, is not easy.
We think the Ontap Portable Shower ticks those boxes. It’s a low-cost solution with so many uses. What we like about it is that it doesn’t take up much space. 22 litres is enough to wash your dishes, pots n pans and still take a shower, and due to it being portable, you can carry it to the nearest tap and re-fill it.

After muddy rides, the Ontap comes into its own. It doesn’t have power hose pressure but it’s enough when combined with a brush to clean bike frames, helmets, and shoes and the water pressure is strong enough for a good shower.
We left it in the sun for a few hours and it warmed up just nicely. We’re not sure how long it would take in the Orignal version, but if warm showers are your thing, then make sure you opt for the Black Edition as this is the one that will heat up the quickest, out of the two.
When plugged into the vehicle the 4m power cord and coiled hose will give you ample room to walk around without feeling tied to the kitchen sink. If you carry an external battery power supply you can venture further away from the van or tent. This is especially handy if you need some privacy or need to wash things into a specific run-off area such as a drain.
The 7 different spray configurations are handy when it comes to filling Vs washing. You can fill relatively small openings like kettles or water bottles to wider surface areas such as plates, chopping boards, bike frames, or yourself.
Conclusions
If you’re a person who’s on the road, part of the van life culture, or just enjoy camping trips where you need a solution to store water for drinking, cleaning dishes, and equipment, or taking a shower but don’t want to be tied to the kitchen sink or spend heaps of cash on a permanent fixture in the vehicle, then the Ontap Portable Shower could be just what you’re looking for.
