A comfortable go-to shoe for every trail!

The Salomon Sense Ride 2 is made to be your every day, every trail, go-to shoe designed for a better run. This lightweight shoe combines the cushioning, grip and flexibility needed to feel confident and comfortable on those regular to long runs.

Utilizing expertise from both trail and road running, the upper of SENSE RIDE 2 is precise but flexible, so you can run in complete comfort. A proven fit, improved with more flexion in the toe area, combines just the right amount of foothold with ample mobility for all-day comfort.

We’ve been fans of the Salomon brand for some time and having recently reviewed their S-Lab Ultra shoe, we have been consistently blown away with the quality and performance of their trail running shoes and the women’s specific Sense Ride 2, is no exception to that rule.

First Impressions

This shoe is designed to for comfort whether training or racing. The soft upper makes this shoe feel less combusome and more fleixble than a traditional trail shoe however the solid grip gives the game away. This is a shoe made for tackling all terrains.

The Quicklace® lacing system felt like the answer to something I didn’t even realise was a problem. The system makes putting shoes on a speedy process but more importantly, it means never having to worry about laces coming undone mid-race. Phew. One less reason to break your stride!

Quicklace® Lacing System

Unlike conventional laces, this system ensures you never have to stop mid-run to fix those undone laces. It’s quick and easy to adjust for a comfortable fit all race long.

Vibe Midsole

Vibe technology is the combination of ENERGYCELL+ and Opal. A combination that provides a unique assembly that works as a system to attenuate vibrations and reduce a potentially harmful load to the body, while deliverign a responsive ride.

On The Trails

From the moment I slipped my feet into Salomon Sense Ride 2 it was apparent that this shoe was made for comfort. Their heavy cushioning meant that I didn’t hesitate when heading straight onto the trails for a long run.

They look and feel more like a road shoe however the impressive off-road grip is a dead give away that they are built to tackle rough terrain. The grip is solid and the base was reasonably rigid which is perfect for tough, technical trails.

I was interested to see, however, how the light mesh upper was affected by the rough terrain and was happy to note that it was in good condition after a long run – it passed the trail test.

Once I got used to the lacing system, I really enjoyed the speed and ease of taking them on and off by sliding the clasp and tucking the laces away securely.

The Salomon Sense Ride 2 W has managed to marry ultimate cushioning with off-road grip and stability. It is a lightweight finish on an ultra comfortable trail shoe that gives you the confidence to go the distance day after day.

It’s #TIMETOPLAY – happy running!

We are all in uncertain times with regard to COVID-19 and strong measures are being taken on all fronts to ‘flatten the curve’ and minimise the impacts on our society and economy.
We all need to exercise some social responsibility and adhere to the advice being offered from medical professionals and those who are calling the shots - social distancing, self isolation, hygiene etc.
BUT - if your circumstance allows it, it is as good a time as ever to head out on the trails to get some fresh air and exercise.
Many of the small businesses which service us as riders are heading into tough times also. A lot of interstate travellers have cancelled trips to Tassie and your local bike shop, cafe, or pub needs your patronage more than ever!
One last thing - now is a time we should be conscious of riding well within our abilities so as to not risk placing unnecessary pressure on the health system at this uncertain juncture.

Happy trails!
