Shredly MULTISPORT Short – Apparel Review

We all have our MTB and hiking-specific shorts and we often fall into the trap of spending a lot of our hard-earned cash on apparel that only does one thing. Well, that doesn’t have to be the way with the Shredly MULTISPORT shorts.

Shredly is probably best known for their eye-catching, women’s specific mountain bike shorts and have nailed the balance between fashion and functionality, perfectly. We reviewed the MTB shorts and jersey some time back and also had the pleasure of speaking with Ashley Rankin, the owner/designer of Shredly.

We really like the ethos that Shredly adopt when it comes to women’s activewear and the attention to detail and effort they go to to create very well-thought-out, functional and great-fitting clothing. You can have highly functional clothing but you can also make sure you have some fun at the same time, and Shredly certainly knows how to do fun.

First Impressions

We may have said this before, but we’ll say it again. When you discover Shredly for the first time, be prepared for a WOW moment. The creative patterns and colours are a hell of a lot of fun and the attention to detail and construction are of the highest quality. You’ll notice this once you get a pair in your hands.

You know that moment when you touch and hold something and you instantly get that feedback that just shouts quality. Well, Shredly has done it again with their women’s MULTISPORT shorts.

Features & Fit

The MULTISPORT short is a one short to rule them all, no matter what you’re doing. Originally inspired by mountain biking but designed for more, the MULTI-SPORT short features everything needed to move comfortably on and off the trail.

The shorts feature a low-rise fit with a flattering cut paired with quick-drying, lightweight, and durable slightly stretch fabric. The length falls just above the knee for that goldilocks length. The fabrics used and the level of stretch is the reason why the MULTISPORT shorts are so adaptable for so many types of activities.

  • Relaxed but flattering fit
  • Lightweight but durable and slightly stretchy fabric
  • Contoured waistband for extended coverage
  • Gusseted crotch for ease of movement and extra comfort
  • Side pocket to stash your essentials
  • Length falls just above the knee
  • Chamois liner sold separately

Out On The Trails

Well, this is where it’s all about. Cycling? Hiking? Golfing? Camping? Yoga? Climbing? SUP? You name it, this short can handle it. You’ll even find yourself coming up with excuses as to why you wear this short…allthetime!

Hiking in the MULTISPORT shorts was a breeze and they performed like any good pair of hiking shorts should. The stretch fabric provided a lot of freedom when needing to climb up and over obstacles and the lightweight breathable materials kept the tester cool throughout the day.

The shorts also feature a good-sized side button pocket which is plenty large enough to store your phone or snacks. On one of the test days, we got caught in a small downpour, which was perfect for testing out drying time. Due to their breathability and non-lined inner, they dried out very quickly as we moved along.

On the bike the MULTISPORT shorts performed as well as any other MTB shorts. The slightly stretch fabric provided extra movement especially when hike-a-biking up steeper terrain and the cut also provides relief for those with larger legs, yet still maintains a flattering style with no sacrifice to functionality.

The leg length falls just above the knee, which means they work well with knee pads and the large waistband provided lots of comfort and even helped soak up excess lower back sweat. Sounds horrible but we all know what that’s like. You’ll be thanking Shredly for that little feature.

Conclusions

If you’re looking for a pair of shorts to use for hiking and mountain biking, and everything else in between, then you must take a look at the Shredly Multisport shorts. A true all-rounder that not only have all the practical features you’d expect from a hiking or mountain bike short but the bling factor to put the Kardashians to shame.
