Pull On The Anchors with FIRST Braking System

FIRST is BRAKING’s latest MTB braking system featuring, unique and completely renewed characteristics from their previous INCAS 2.0 system. Boasting a multitude of upgrades and improvements that offer riders a leaner, lighter, and more powerful system that promises better performance, installation, and maintenance.

The F.I.R.S.T braking system is a completely new project from the Braking brand. 100% Made in Italy and beautifully CNC machined. FIRST is the result of many years of experience gained in competition and feedback collected from the 5 years of their previous INCAS 2.0 system.

“F.I.R.S.T.” guarantees tailor-made braking thanks to the new design that will allow you to manage the ergonomics of the brake regardless of the hydraulic adjustment. This brake is suitable for everyone and customizable according to the different needs of each rider. FIRST is a braking system that can cater to all MTB disciplines but is perfect for Enduro and e-bike categories where stopping power is critical.

What’s been improved in the FIRST Braking System?

  1. EASY to assemble – The clamp slots have been enlarged.
  2. EASY to bleed – bleeding nipple and cartridge with double holes.
  3. EASE in aligning the caliper – Greater ROLL-BACK of the pistons and grains for alignment.
  4. EASE in adjusting the lever – SEPARATE lever and hydraulic adjustment.
  5. EASE in adjusting the volume of oil in the reservoir – No more attention to the oil level, it must be filled completely.
  6. No Vacuum, now air and oil are separated by the new membrane.
  7. Pump better handles oil volume changes.
  8. Lower risk of bent tubes when the pumps are plugged – The tube now comes out more parallel to the handlebar.

Why 2 Pistons Again?

  1. 4 pistons no longer mean power.
  2. It’s just a matter of hydraulic ratio and volume. Our cartridge works with twice the pressure of another system and our pistons are huge (diameter 26mm)
  3. With two pistons you have better oil control, and the pads can work in parallel and better aligned with the discs.
  4. Two pistons are easy to service.
  5. With 2 pistons, the ORs are larger and drive the pistons better.
  6. The hydraulic ratio is extremely favorable for the size of the pump piston, and with 9mm cartridge the system is extremely modular.
  7. Two large pistons have larger chambers and less hassle to connect, creating less air retention and facilitating purging.

Although the INCAS 2.0 system was and is an excellent braking product, the F.I.R.S.T. system has had a lot of updates, below are some of those.

There’s a lighter, stiffer master cylinder and caliper, weighing 60gr less than the previous INCAS. 2.0 system. A new hydraulic regulation is INDEPENDENT of the lever position adjustment. The possibility to easily change the link and therefore the reaction arm of the lever, for increased power up to (+26%) compared to INCAS. 2.0.

New, thinner pump cartridge with more holes for lubrication and polished piston chamber for better piston flow. A new master cylinder tank with increased oil volume (+10%) and easy oil draught even in an inverted position.

New hydraulic regulation is INDEPENDENT of the lever position adjustment. Simpler bleeding procedure – with built-in bleeding nipple in the highest position, to make bleeding faster and more effective.

BRAKING® is ready to revolutionize the concept of brake: an action as simple as braking will become a new experience… You won’t believe your fingers.

New caliper mounting holes, for better and faster centering of the caliper on the frame. A new pad pin with a safety clip. Modified caliper O-ring housing geometry and tolerances for better piston roll-back and faster oil flow. And the possibility to install 3 mm thick discs directly – without needing a spacer, and without disassembling the caliper.

New diaphragm system and pump cover for precise separation between oil and air. Avoid problems such as oil emulsions, sudden lever voids, air problems after operating the lever with the vertical bike, and finally better management of the oil volume change.

So what’s the bottom line?

All this makes F.I.R.S.T. superior to the INCAS system in terms of customization and performance possibilities, but above all it makes the system EASIER to assemble, bleed, and maintain.
