We were lucky enough to have reviewed some of their gear several years ago, and we are still pleasantly surprised by the quality and function of the Frankd clothing, today.
Frankd Airtech Jersey – Men’s Tie Dye / Women’s Lavender
When it comes to mountain biking, comfort and durability are crucial. Frankd MTB Apparel is crafted with high-quality materials that are both breathable and moisture–wicking, allowing you to stay cool and dry even on the most challenging rides. The apparel is designed to offer a full range of motion, ensuring that nothing holds you back from conquering any terrain.
The Women’s Lavender Airtech Jersey shares the same features as the Men’s Tie Dye Jersey. Both offer excellent wicking and breathable fabrics, perfect for the warmer seasons.
The jerseys are made from quick–drying 100% polyester with mesh side panels for additional ventilation. Both jerseys feature a drop tail at the rear of the jersey for the ideal fit when riding.
Mesh sections create excellent airflow to keep you cool.
Frankd Demand Shorts – Men’s and Women’s
The Demand shorts are designed with the same lightweight, breathable, and 4-way stretch material as Frankd’s popular Darkside pants. The 4-way stretch offers excellent comfort while riding, without any excess, baggy material. To further customize the fit, the shorts feature elastic velcro tabs.
The Frankd Demand shorts provide optimal compatibility with knee pads with a generously proportioned leg opening, affording ample room to accommodate a wide range of knee pad sizes without sacrificing comfort or integrity and eliminating any unsightly gap between the shorts and knee pads.
The Men’s and Women’s Frankd Demand shorts share similar features. 4-Way stretch fabrics, subtle branding, a ton of pockets, velcro waist adjust tabs and the perfect leg length to accommodate a wide range of knee pads.
The Frankd Demand shorts are equipped with a zippered pocket with foul weather protection seams, positioned just below the waistline on each hip, as well as an additional zippered pocket on the right thigh.
These pockets offer ample space to store mobile phones, mini tools, snacks, or any other belongings you may want to bring along for the ride.

On The Trails
We’ve been big fans of the Frankd apparel ever since our first review way back in 2019. What we’ve noticed is their commitment to the same ethos of quality, function, and on-bike performance still holds true. Being an Australian brand, Frankd knows a thing or two about the riding conditions we have here.
Out on the trails working hard is where the Frankd apparel kicks into gear. The highly breathable fabric and mesh panels, in our opinion, are the key selling factors to the Frankd jerseys. If we were asked to design a jersey for the Australian climate (which we would love to, just saying 🙂 ), then this would be damn close to what we’d come up with.
The highly breathable mesh-style fabric and panels are what put these jerseys on a golden pedestal. The mesh panels make a light and day difference in keeping you cooler and letting all that body heat escape versus a standard mtb jersey. The difference between other jerseys is significant.
Frankd has the fit and comfort dialled into that sweet spot. The tailored fit provides a flattering cut but still offers good amounts of stretch. There’s no potato sack bagginess or MAMIL-style tightness around the body and no scratchy labels or chaffing necklines to annoy the hell out of you.
It’s the details that put a smile on our face like the tall waistband (Women’s shorts) with a soft fleece–like fabric that feels luxurious against the skin. Adjusting the fit was super-easy with the velcro side tabs and the double-button closure and zippered fly add another level of security and confidently keep everything in place so you don’t need to keep hitching them up or adjusting them throughout the ride.
We found the storage options with the Demand shorts more than enough with the three zippered pockets on offer. This is more than what a lot of other brands offer. We also really liked the foul-weather seam on the zip pocket, perfect if you’re caught out in a downpour with an electronic device in your pocket such as a phone. These sorts of details are what keep impressing us with the Frankd apparel.
In terms of aesthetics, Frankd has a good mix of fashion vs function. There are no overly garish patterns or colourways, and even the tie-dye has been done tastefully. Frankd has opted for a low-key branding approach to their shorts with a dark grey logo instead of flashy bright branding. We like this approach. But even their jerseys have a level of style that really appeals to us. Frankd apparel has an undeniably MTB flavour without going down the obvious cliched style route.
Finally, let’s talk socks. We LOVED these socks! They felt like fluffy clouds hugging our feet. Frankd has gone with a winning blend of terry cotton, spandex, elastic, and nylon materials which makes them super-comfy. They also have a slight compression feel to them, which gives them that huggy feeling.
The Frankd socks are the trail-riding equivalent of a superhero cape. They’re made for conquering trails, shredding downhill, and showing enduro courses who’s boss, but equally suitable for a post-ride pub or cafe sessions.

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just starting out, Frankd MTB Apparel is a brand that you can trust to provide you with the perfect combination of style, affordability, and comfort.
