TESTED: Kuhl Renegade Stealth Pants

TESTED: Kuhl Renegade Stealth Pants

Stay KÜHL, Calm and Collected On Your Next Adventure.

KÜHL, one of the most premium and trusted outdoor brands in the business are excited to announce a new range of men’s pants now available throughout Australia.

You may recall our early sneak peek of the KÜHL Renegade range just before Christmas. Well, we must of been on Santas ‘good list’ because not long after, we received a pair of the Renegade Stealth pants in the post.

The new KÜHL Stealth Renegade is designed for premium comfort and the utmost performance. Originating over 30 years ago, KÜHL has perfected the relationship between form, function and craftsmanship when it comes to outdoor lifestyle apparel.

First Impressions

On first impressions our immediate thoughts were how light the fabric felt in our hands and when we them pulled on. They have a slight stretch, soft fabric with a relaxed and very comfortable fit but not overly baggy.

The stitching quality is superior! With triple stitching and reinforced areas for extra strength,  a good choice of pockets to stash your valuables in and an articulated knee section. So far, the KÜHL Stealth Renegade were looking very promising.

Features

KÜHL have some very nice features in the Renegade Stealth pant. First up is their “KLASSIK FIT” which gives the fabric a slight stretch characteristic, making them perfect for those who need a little extra room in the leg department.

The comfort factor on these pants are off the charts! The waistband for example has a ‘peached‘ finish, which gives it an increased wicking ability and a faster drying time.  The wast band area can get very sweaty after long days of hiking with a pack, so this is a nice touch.

The articulated knee and gusseted crotch allow freedom of movement when stretching to reach and extend for a longer stride or when you need to get that knee up high on to rocky shelves for example.

Cut from innovative DURALUX™, the durable softshell fabric feels like cotton to the touch. Stronger, more breathable, and boasting superior anti-abrasion and quick dry properties. DURALUX with DWR outperforms standard nylon and provides UPF 50 sun protection, which is perfect for the Australian climate.

The Renegade Stealth pants feature eight pockets, including zippered side pockets, all of which provide abundant storage. There’s also a stealthy drop-in pocket designed to be unobtrusive and comfortable. Hence the “Stealthy” name. This is perfect for storing your phone or other valuables safe and sound.

Feature List:

  • 8 total pockets: 2 front hand, 2 back, 2 zippered side, 1 stealth cell phone, 1 3D cell phone
  • UPF 50
  • Gusseted crotch for freedom of movement
  • Articulated knees

Out On The Trails

Out on the trails the Renegade Stealth pants are in their element. The stretch fabric in the legs and crotch areas come into play, allowing for extra give when doing a bit of scrambling or climbing over larger boulders.

I’m certainly no hulk when it comes to body shapes but I certainly felt the benefits in my glute and thigh areas when in full stretch mode, which gave me a sense of freedom in my movements and allowed me to extend or push even further without the fear of the fabric tearing.

The fabric feels airy and lightweight when walking along, allowing a good level of airflow due to the relaxed cut. We got wet a few times crossing some creeks and the dry time was incredibly quick.

The waist band has what they call a ‘peachy’ finish, which gives high levels of wicking properties and additional comfort. I felt the benefits of this throughout the day.  The test day turned out to be a hot one and the usual sweat build up around the waist can get uncomfortable but the Renegade pants seemed to cope with ease, soaking up sweat and drying off very quickly.

I hope what we do here at Tyres and Soles will inspire people to get out there and experience first hand, the natural wonders that surround them.

So, pump up those tyres, don your favourite boots. Grab a mate, a partner, a pet… and head out into nature. But tell us all about it when you get back.
